Souter Johnnie’s Cottage

 The home in Kirkoswald of John Davidson, village souter or shoemaker, who was the original Souter Johnnie of Robert Burn’s ‘Tam O’Shanter’.

 Life sized stone figures of Souter, Tam, the innkeeper and his wife are in the restored ale-house in the cottage garden. The thatched cottage, recently refurbished, contains period furniture, Burns relics and a reconstructed Souter’s workshop.
