Law Castle
Just down the coast from Portencross Castle, Law
Castle is another Boyd property dating from the 15th century. One
suggestion I have read is that it was built as a wedding gift on the
marriage of Princess Mary, eldest daughter of James II, to Thomas
Boyd, the Earl of Arran. Alternatively, Thomas Boyd was already the
owner of the property and on his marriage to Mary, was made Earl of
Arran. Can anyone enlighten us further?
It has now been restored and is available as
luxury holiday flats.
